How to Use
  1. Check skin and directions: read the wax warnings before starting. Do not wax sunburned, broken, irritated or recently peeled skin, or excluded areas such as eyelids, eyelashes, nipples, perianal or vaginal areas and mucous tissue. Crybaby Wax directions exclude use with retinol or tretinoin. Ask your clinician whether and when waxing is appropriate; do not stop prescribed treatment to wax.
  2. Patch test first: check wax temperature, wax a small part of the intended treatment area and wait 24 hours. Proceed only if no reaction occurs. A wrist-temperature check is a separate check before each use.
  3. Prepare: hair should be at least 1/4 inch long. Gently cleanse away lotion, oil and surface residue, then dry the skin fully. Use a light dusting of A Wail of a Time Talc-Free Priming Powder only if extra moisture needs absorbing. Powder does not prevent burns or skin lifting. Priming powder is sold separately.
  4. Heat with the Mini Meltdown Machine: add a small batch within its 0.5 oz maximum wax capacity and connect USB-C power. The Mini heats automatically. Stir until fully melted, then check for a honey-like flow. If it runs like water or feels too hot, disconnect power and allow cooling. Test a small amount on your inner wrist; it should feel comfortably warm. The light and elapsed time do not replace these checks.
  5. Apply: choose a small area you can see clearly and control. Spread an even, continuous layer with a clean applicator in the direction of hair growth, leaving an edge you can grip. Keep wax off excluded areas. Hard wax does not need a fabric strip.
  6. Remove: lightly touch the outer edge with a clean fingertip. If it sticks or draws strings, wait and check again. Once no longer sticky, hold skin taut and pull quickly against hair growth, low and parallel to skin. Leave missed hairs alone instead of repeating passes. Never heat a patch already on your skin.
  7. Aftercare: on intact skin, gently massage a small amount of You Big Softie Finishing Oil to loosen residue and condition skin. It contains sweet almond and soybean oils; check your sensitivities. If also using Just Cool It Calming Mango Gel, apply gel first. Do not apply oil to burns or broken skin. Avoid immediate makeup, scrubbing and hot baths; ask your clinician when to restart retinoids or other active treatments. Finishing oil is sold separately.
  8. Finish: stop if skin burns, blisters, lifts or becomes increasingly painful; seek medical advice for injured skin. Turn off, unplug and let the warmer cool completely before cleaning or storage. Follow its cleaning instructions.

FAQ's

Read the wax directions and patch test a small part of the intended area 24 hours ahead. The Mini Meltdown Set includes an automatic warmer with a maximum wax capacity of 0.5 oz; it has no temperature dial. Fully melt the wax, then allow it to reach a thick honey-like texture and check a small amount on your inner wrist. Work in small, clearly visible sections outside the brow shape, keeping wax away from eyelids and eyelashes. Apply an even layer with a gripping edge. When the outer edge is no longer sticky, hold skin taut and pull quickly against growth, low and parallel to the skin. Choose a licensed esthetician if you cannot clearly see or control the area.

PCOS alone does not establish that facial waxing is appropriate for your skin. Check the selected formula's warnings, ingredients and permitted areas, and patch test the intended area 24 hours ahead. Do not wax irritated, broken or sunburned skin. Crybaby Wax directions exclude use with retinol or tretinoin and after a recent chemical peel. Ask your treating clinician whether and when waxing is appropriate with your medications or skin treatments; do not stop prescribed medication simply to wax.

I'm Sensitive Meltdown Vegan Hard Wax is a starting option for permitted facial areas, including external upper-lip skin as directed. It is rosin-free but contains fragrance and can still irritate skin. Check the ingredients and warnings, patch test first, and check wax temperature on your inner wrist before application. Keep wax off the lips and mucous membranes.

If the selected formula's directions allow the area and your skin is suitable, you can consider waxing external upper-lip hair. Check the product warnings and patch test first. Ask your clinician about retinoids, other skin treatments or medication concerns; do not stop prescribed medication simply to wax. Waxing removes existing hair and does not treat PCOS or its hormonal cause.

Decide which hairs should remain before applying wax, then work only in small sections you can clearly see and control. Use an even layer with a gripping edge and keep wax away from eyelids and eyelashes. Stop if you are unsure of the shape or cannot hold the skin taut; a licensed esthetician can help. Do not repeatedly wax the same spot to correct the result.

Hard wax sets into its own removable strip, so fabric or paper strips are not needed. This lets you work in small sections when the formula's directions permit facial use. Soft wax is removed with a separate strip. Both methods can irritate or lift skin; check the product warnings, patch test and confirm comfortable wax temperature before proceeding.

Let hair reach at least 1/4 inch, about the length of a grain of rice, before waxing. Check the actual regrowth rather than relying on a fixed number of days. If a few hairs are too short to catch, let them grow instead of repeatedly waxing the same spot.

Upper-lip waxing can hurt, and sensation varies. Use small, manageable sections, check wax texture and comfortable temperature, and follow the product's directions. Do not continue if you feel burning or see skin lifting. A calming gel is aftercare for intact skin, not a treatment for a burn or damaged skin. See the beginner guide for the full preparation and removal steps.
